About Leona
Hummingbird Concepts Landscape Design was created in 2019 when I decided to make landscape design my career. I work mostly with residential landscape design in the Dallas, TX area and really love working with clients that are interested in learning about their plants, soil and the natural environment outside of their homes. Pollinator garden designs, sustainable landscape design, and using native and adaptive plants are my specialties. I also love to create beautiful and simple landscapes with low-maintenance, drought tolerant plants for my busier clients.

I continuously study landscape design from many different sources and styles, and am invariably taking classes and confer with designers all over the country. This helps with staying current on new technologies, techniques, materials & plant selections. I connect with many designers regularly throughout the country with the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD), Virtual Chapter, where I serve on their marketing committee.

Although I have always loved houseplants, I became an avid gardener around 2010 when we moved into our first house with a yard. I went through Collin County Master Gardener training in 2015 and remain a member to this day. I bring my love for horticulture, eco-friendly, sustainable and regenerative concepts to my landscape design and gardening practices. My former careers include: U.S. Marine, commercial insurance underwriter and yoga Instructor. My hobbies: travel, gardening, yoga, hiking and baking.
